The Anti-Watch
On 17, Jul 2014 | In Uncategorized | By Bruce Adhoc
This wristwatch truly thinks outside the circle. Thanks to modern technology, we no longer need to conform to traditional ideas for product design. Doesn’t it seem like just yesterday when shampoo and conditioner miraculously mated in the same bottle? Time to rethink convention. (No offense to the Convention Convention, January 15th at the airport Marriott. Free parking.)
Takes a licking, keeps on confounding
Photographer Martin Schoeller

When is a head shot more than a head shot? When it is captured by über-photographer Martin Schoeller, whose simple, yet sometimes bizarre portraits are almost trance-inducing. Please, do not use steroids or lift heavy objects while viewing (Uh-oh, too late).

There’s something fresh and charming about this little half-pint creamer. Retro and progressive, it makes a cool gift for around fifteen bucks.

Fluid Architecture

No, this is not an Amish man in a clock, but rather a flat panel video monitor playing a continuous loop of a man patiently drawing, then erasing each minute and hour in real time for twelve hours. What time is it? Time to check into a mental hospital.

Even if you’re not into cars, it’s easy to appreciate the fluid and futuristic lines of this French beauty. In its day, this car was often scorned as “outrageous” and downright “indecent”. Today, those same words are uttered by accountants upon hearing that Talbot-Lagos can demand upwards of $5 million at auction.
Holiday Thermodynamics
On 31, Dec 2009 | In Uncategorized | By Bruce Adhoc
For the holidays, we present an ingenious invention to help prevent your holiday toast from getting toasty. The double-wall champagne flute acts as a glass thermos, creating an elegant barrier between the warmth of your hand and the cold bubbly. Chic physics. (Say that five times fast after a glass!)
Tilt-Shift Photography

This is an interesting photographic technique which fakes a very narrow depth of field to create a “miniature” effect. Perhaps even more interesting is the fact that your brain continues to malfunction even when you understand the trick. Check your warranty.
Forgotten Commercial Artists
On 15, Nov 2009 | In Uncategorized | By Bruce Adhoc
This is artwork from a series of truck ads in the 1940’s by commercial illustrator William Campbell. Despite the mundane subject matter, the lighting, composition and use of color is striking. They just don’t make ’em like they used to…
